Send your message by filling out the following form Dear Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, I am writing to express my dismay about the charging regime being introduced in the NHS and to demand that you take action to protect the NHS. The Department of Health and Social Care is undermining the founding principles of our health service by charging people for using the NHS. There is clear evidence of the devastating impact of NHS charging on the lives of individuals and wider communities. I support the positions of the British Medical Association (BMA) and the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges in calling for an end to charging and an independent review into the impact of the policy on individual and public health. I call on the Department of Health and Social Care to commit to maintaining a truly universal NHS, available to all that need it and to: - Stop charging for NHS care and repeal the 2015 and 2017 NHS Charging Regulations - Stop sharing patient data with the Home Office and ensure clear separation between NHS Data and Immigration Enforcement - Commission a full and independent inquiry into the impact of NHS charging on individual and public health, and provide compensation to the families and communities already impacted. Healthcare professionals and patients are clear that this policy cannot be implemented safely, is fundamentally unjust and goes against the principles of the NHS, one of this country's most valued and trusted institutions. I therefore urge you to act now to end this harmful practice and prevent further suffering, discrimination and injustice.
